HIPAA Training for Pharmacies

Pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other pharmacy workforce members must complete HIPAA training covering the HIPAA Privacy Rule, HIPAA Security Rule, and HIPAA Breach Notification Rule, since their daily work involves the continuous use, disclosure, and protection of Protected Health Information across dispensing, insurance verification, and patient consultation. Training requirements extend to any role with contact with patient prescriptions, health records, insurance data, dispensing systems, or the physical spaces where Protected Health Information is stored or discussed, not only licensed pharmacists. Accredited courses covering all three rules produce a certificate of completion once mandatory modules and assessments are finished, giving a pharmacy documentation it can produce on request.
